Content Specialist/Writer

Our content specialists/writers are responsible for the writing and creation of mid-to high-level content assets for a variety of clients in “unglamorous industries” such as technology/SaaS and B2B. Our writers are prolific and creative, yet get the big picture as related to client goals and inbound marketing strategy. They are able to handle a big volume of content and consistently deliver high caliber results while meeting deadlines. They’re great communicators who intelligently interview our clients’ subject matter experts and can easily jump in to learn new subjects quickly.


  • Create high-quality content for a variety of digital channels (blogs, websites, e-books, e-newsletters, social media, etc.) as needed based on each client’s editorial calendar and strategy.

  • Work closely with Inbound Marketing Manager/ Client Communications to develop content according to established editorial calendars.

  • Adhere to client’s brand voice/tone consistently across all channels.

  • Write blog posts on a variety of subjects.

  • Research and write longer form content for downloads, white papers/ eBooks.

  • Create landing page content to support gated content assets.

  • Write lead nurturing emails according to inbound strategy and persona funnels (as mapped by inbound strategist and inbound marketing manager).

  • Write press releases and video scripts when needed.

  • Develop e-newsletter content.

  • Write website content on a range of topics, adhering to SEO best practices.

  • Develop social media posts for original content publishing.

  • Conduct interviews with client SMEs for content development.

  • Attend client meetings when appropriate and talk with clients directly about specific content needs if applicable.

  • Maintain a strong understanding of different client industries, phrases, keywords competitive landscape and business culture.

  • Switch gears easily between topics and content types.

  • Be able to easily grasp new subjects and complex topics.

Not responsible for:

  • Maintaining client schedules

  • Managing clients daily

  • Determining client goals

  • Designing templates or layouts

Required experience and skills include:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • A minimum of 1 year online, digital, content marketing, SEO experience

  • Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Excel

  • A natural ease working with remote communication tools like GoToMeeting, instant messenger, SKYPE, and email

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Understanding of content management systems a plus (WordPress, Hubspot)
