For many Coloradoans, winter is a special time for what nature brings us: snow and the chance to play in it. It’s also a great opportunity to spend holiday time with friends and family whether it’s on the slopes or at your favorite brew pub. Sometimes it’s just a quiet recharge with a book by the fire.
The SPROUT team is off from Christmas until after the New Year. Lucky us, I know! Part of the reason we’re able to do this is because of inbound marketing. Our site is working for us even when we’re away doing the things we love.
Your 24-Hour Marketer
Potential clients are finding us through search because of the SEO strategy we’ve worked hard at. They’re able to discover what we’re about once they hit our site because of a good user experience. And they can connect with us easily in a number of ways—through our e-books, contact requests, emails, social media, etc.
These are some of the ways inbound marketing makes our lives easier. It’s not terribly complicated. It just requires a solid strategy, consistency, and most importantly, engaging content. This is what we do for our partners every day—even when we’re not in the office.
Set it and Forget It
With the right tools, you can automate your content distribution at any time. But it really helps when you’re not going to be sitting at your desk.
A platform like Hubspot allows us to schedule content for our partners while we’re recovering from Christmas. Whether it’s a blog post, social media conversations or a New Year’s email campaign, we can decide when to send.
Inbound Marketing Gives You Flexibility
As a sales guy, I like to jump on leads that come in from our site quickly. While I’m technically off for the next 10 days, I want some flexibility—being able to respond to prospects but without the usual expectations. I don’t want a lead to wait for me to respond until I get back. But I don’t want to commit to our usual response time:
I might be out skiing and then enjoying après into the evening. So what I did was change my response time to “We will be in touch within 24 hours.” This is a window I know can adhere to. And my Hubspot mobile app will notify me as soon as a lead comes in.
If I really wanted to check out during my “time off” I would set different expectations or have the leads routed to someone at SPROUT who was working.
Play More with Inbound Marketing
For some businesses—e-commerce, for example—inbound marketing can do it all—attract, convert, close, and delight. Others like SPROUT still need lots of human interaction before anyone commits to buying our services.
But inbound marketing can still automate a lot of the process, giving prospects what they need and allowing us to respond accordingly even when we may be anywhere but sitting at our desks.
If you want to chat, I promise to get back to you within 24 hours. In the meantime, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
