An Inbound Marketing Firm Won't Rescue Your Small Business

marketingsuperheroI know, I know. It's a shocker, especially coming from an inbound marketing blog, but it's the simple truth:

An inbound marketing firm is not going to save your small business from financial ruin or bad decisions.

We can't make a lousy product fantastic.

We can't make your employees smarter and more dedicated.

We can't exploit needs in the marketplace that simply don't exist.

So if you're currently steering your ship toward the rocks and you're reaching out to the “miracle” of inbound marketing to magically calm the storm and set you back on course, you can stop reading now.

However, an inbound marketing firm CAN help solid businesses succeed.

On the other hand, if you've got a great product or service that fills a need that truly exists in the marketplace, and you've got a team of skilled and enthusiastic folks just dying to get this product out to the masses...

Well, then an inbound marketing agency is about the best friend you can have.

Let me explain. But first, let me tell you a story.

A great small business that needed some help – Oren International

The folks at Oren International in Pensacola, Florida, are among the hardest working and most dedicated people you'll find in the paper converting industry.

The company was formed in 1996 and had done a great job of building a solid reputation in the industry and had become a recognized leader in the field.  And for a company with one location and less than 50 employees, that's pretty impressive.

But even at that level of performance, leadership at Oren recognized that times were changing and their marketing and sales efforts weren't generating the results they used to.  The key issue was their website.

Now, at this point, they weren't steering a sinking ship and hoping for a miracle. Far from it.

But Oren International recognized that something was missing, and they decided to turn to an inbound marketing firm for assistance. (That's us, by the way.)

In reviewing their website, we were able to quickly determine that the story they were trying to tell just wasn't coming through and didn't reflect what they are all about. So, while they had all the ingredients they needed to succeed, their website was generating few, if any, leads.

To make a long story short, we patched that little hole up for them with a content refresh on their site, a full optimization based on updated SEO technique, the establishment of an ongoing content marketing strategy, including the creation of valuable free downloads and a follow-up system to generate and nurture the right kinds of leads.

Oren International

The results?

  • An 83% increase in leads over the first six months.
  • Over 2500 unique visitors to the site in just three months.
  • A 32% conversion rate on their lead generating e-book download.
  • An overall dramatic increase in business, revenue, and profit.

That is what an inbound marketing firm can do for your small business.

Oren International already had a valuable product and service combination. They already had the desire and the ability to great things.

What they didn't have was a thorough understanding of inbound marketing methods and the right tools to implement them effectively.

So, ask yourself:

  • Is my small business able to succeed?

  • Do we have the skills and the team to delight our customers (if we could find them)?

  • Are we prepared to hit the ground running over the next six months and really start pulling in quality leads and loads of new, profitable business?

If you answered “yes” to those three questions, then what you need, my friend, is the guiding hand of an inbound marketing firm to give you that little nudge in the right direction.
