Clever Content Marketing for Valentine's Day
Tiffany & Co. wants to make your Valentine's Day blue, in a good way. The company is making it easy for women send their significant others a special clue for Valentine’s Day. A new “Drop a Hint” button is now featured next to every item on their website. With a simple click, you can send prospective shoppers a friendly email nudge just in time for "won't you be mine."
Simply click the "Drop a Hint" button, garnished by a little red heart, next to an item of your choice. A screen will pop up with a customizable email message. Enter your sweetheart’s name, your name, and hit submit. A very beautiful, blue HTML "hint" is on its way.
"Dear _____: As you may know, Valentine's Day is fast approaching, but do not fret. A little bird told us that this will be a smashing success with ____.
Of course, if you have other ideas for Valentine's Day, this is just a hint."
I had to check it out, making sure that I chose an item under the $1,000 mark so as not to give my husband a heart attack. (To be honest, we don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day, but this was too good of a game to pass up).

When you click on “this,” hyperlinked in the email, it takes you straight to the item you “Drop a Hint” about. I chose these lovely earrings:
I’m pretty sure this little nudge won’t land a blue box in my hands, but the campaign is an inspiring way of using content and design to spread buzz and engage consumers.
