Sprout Content is a
content marketing agency that nurtures the long-term growth of our clients through custom content that makes a difference. Here is the story of how our company came to be:
The seeds for SPROUT were planted in the Big Apple…
SPROUT Content co-founders, Dechay and Debbie, met in New York City in the late 1990’s. Sitting side by side in a big PR firm, they became fast friends, often working into the night on events, press kits and client relations. Together, they learned to navigate the business world, as well as life in Manhattan.
…Fertilized on Global Journeys
In 1999, the duo packed everything on their backs and set out to travel the globe. More than a dozen countries later, they returned to their prospective roots to grow as professionals. Dechay discovered a dot-com startup in her hometown of Pensacola, FL that specialized in website design. She began working as a project manager and found that lack of content held up almost every job. In order to complete projects on time, she began writing content for clients. A New Jersey native, Debbie returned to her roots in NYC and launched a career as a beauty copywriter. She worked with some of the industry’s best marketing and creative teams, bringing a voice to global beauty brands and consumer goods.
…Watered in the Gulf Coast
Fate intervened in 2005 when Debbie met her husband at Dechay’s wedding. The serendipitous encounter brought Debbie to Florida. By this time, they were both working with various clients as marketing consultants and copywriters and discovered an unmet need in the market. After years of “writing copy” for clients, they quickly realized that content marketing is what they’ve been doing all along. SPROUT Content took root at the end of 2009. Since then, the company has helped entrepreneurs, marketing directors, and brand managers use content marketing to grow their business and build lasting relationships with their audience.
In a crowded space, it’s increasingly difficult to differentiate yourself from the competition. We encourage businesses to, “Be yourself, because everyone else is already taken.”
